No will?

The Intestate Succession Act decides who inherits — not you.

Signed wrong?

A will witnessed by a beneficiary, or missing a signature on one page, can fail — fixing it takes a High Court application.

Signed right?

Your wishes carry the full force of law, your children are protected, and your family is spared months of difficulty.

How it works

Three steps to a will that counts

1

Answer guided questions

Who you are, who inherits, who winds up your estate, who cares for your children. Plain language, about 15 minutes, save and resume any time.

2

Review the exact wording

See your complete will, clause by clause, before anything is final. Change your answers as often as you like.

3

Print, sign, done

Download your PDF with a step-by-step signing guide on the cover. Sign it with two witnesses and your will is legally in force.

What your will covers

  • ✓Naming your heirs, their shares and an alternate for each
  • ✓Specific gifts — a car, jewellery, an amount of money
  • ✓A family-calamity fallback if none of your heirs survive you
  • ✓Guardians for your minor children — a couple can act jointly
  • ✓An executor and trustees, exempted from expensive security bonds
  • ✓A testamentary trust that protects young beneficiaries
  • ✓Funeral and organ-donation wishes

When to see a professional instead

  • →Family or business trusts
  • →Business interests and shareholder agreements
  • →Offshore assets
  • →Disinheriting a spouse or dependants

We keep this product honest: if your estate is complex, a tailored will drawn by a fiduciary professional is worth every rand.

Questions
Is an online will legal in South Africa?+

Yes — with one critical caveat. A will may be drafted by anyone, including online. But it only becomes valid once printed and signed in ink by you and two witnesses, all present together, exactly as the Wills Act requires. That is why every will we generate ships with a precise signing guide.

Why is it free?+

WillCreator is in beta. While we refine the product, wills are free. If you nominate our professional executor service in your will, we may one day assist your family with the estate — that work is remunerated at or below the tariff regulated by law, and only then.

Do I need a lawyer?+

For a straightforward estate — a home, savings, vehicles, policies, children — a properly drafted and signed will is exactly what the law requires, no lawyer needed. If your affairs involve trusts, businesses or offshore assets, we'll tell you honestly: see a professional.

What happens if I die without a will?+

The Intestate Succession Act decides who inherits — not you. An executor is appointed without your say, guardianship of your children can become a court matter, and settling the estate is usually slower and more expensive for your family.

Can I update my will later?+

Yes. Life changes — marriage, children, divorce — should always trigger an update. Create a fresh will in minutes; signing the new one (with its revocation clause) replaces the old.
